i'm planning to buy a good webCam, how good is logitech quickcam zoom, is it
ccd based? cause they say the ccd based webCam is much better than cmos
based webCam, if ever what brand/model can you recommend?
lewell
The content of this email when sent is as full as practical. Due to the
settling of the words the contents might not appear as full as it was but
the weight remains the same. The contents is being sent by weight and not by
volume.

The quickcam pro series are some of the best for the money. CCD is
definitely superior to CMOS (that's why you can get a camera for $25 or pay
$100). Another important thing to know is that the quickcam pro 3000 and
4000 (with "zoom") are identical except for the driver. I know this because
I developed a webcam accessory (www.trackercam.com) and live in the webcam
world. In fact it is possible to hack the 4000 driver so that it no longer
looks for the ID string differentiating the two and do "zoom" on the 3000.
The zoom for the 4000 is nothing but pixel doubling (aka "digital zoom")
The CCD in the quickcam series is found in many DVCs.

You're right, I would. Working 34 hours straight kinda messes with the last
remaining neurons before mental shutdown. :)

tnx for the info phil, but before posting i already tried looking at the
specz from the logitech website, i'm quite confused if the 'quickcam zoom'
is also ccd based like that of 'quickcam pro 4000' the said site did not
mention if 'quickcam zoom' is also ccd based.
