i am having a real big problem that i can't seem to fix.
i recently bought a Goodmans GDC 1116 STN digital
camera. i have installed all the software that came with
it, but when i plug in the USB lead and switch the camera
on, the Found New Hardware Wizard doesn't seem to be able
to find the camera. Does anyone know how to fix it? i
am coming to the end of my
tether!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

Are you sure that the software you installed is xp compatible?
You may want to go to the goodmans website to see if they have
updated drivers.

Have you precisely following the instructions. Perhaps the camera should
first be powered-up, THEN the USB connection made.
If frustration continues, consider purchasing an inexpensive card reader for
the type of memory card used by the camera. It will be seen as a drive
letter in Windows Explorer, and the images it contains will be in a
subdirectory (folder).
Not only is this a handy method, but it saves camera battery life.

Save the receipt if you do. There's a tiny chance you'll
end up with one of the rare few that use proprietary file
systems. I didn't have one myself, but I knew someone
who did, and also I ended up with a mp3 player that did,
so for it I couldn't just pop in the memory card to write
more files on there or erase or anything like that.
Anyway, are you sure the most recent drivers for that
camera are properly installed? Go to the manufacturer's
website and see if they have anything newer than what you
have on any disc that came with it.

Does it appear in the Device Manager portion of Control Panel and/or is
there a yellow question mark next to unknown device/camera or whatever?
Then try opening whatever graphic viewer you use, and try to bring it up
with the TWAIN mode or 'view pictures' or whatever suits your particular
viewer.. I use ACDsee, for example....

Notwithstanding the "Wizard" when you go to Start-All
Progranms-Assessories-Scanner and Camera Wizard, is the camera shown?
