View Full Version : Very slow SCSI Hard Drive under XP

I am running Windows XP Professional and have all service
packs/driver updates installed.

I benchmarked my ULTRA SCSI Harddrive (40MB/Sec) and
found I was getting around 5MB/Sec performance. I did
some checking and found that I made a mistake and the
SCSI HBA was SCSI2 (20MB/Sec). I exchanged the HBA for a
LSI Logic LSU40SE ULTRA SCSI HBA. The drive is recognised
by the SCSI BIOS as 40MB/Sec data transfer rate. Both the
drive, HBA and my motherboard are hardware certified by
Microsoft.

Yet there is no difference in performance. I benchmark at
exactly the same speed (5MB/Sec)

I've seen more postings complaining about this.
