I have a new Dell loaded with xp home...new also to the
computer world.....I have a few programs that windows pop
up saying I need to download Java virtual machine. When I
try to download it says I don't have the latest version
of Microsoft virtual machine. I looked up my version
(took me an hour) and found that I have 5.00.3816. When I
followed the instructions to check to see if I have the
xp sp1 it shows that I do.
Why can't I download Java??????

Corki;
Microsoft is removing Microsoft Virtual Machine from its websites and
stopping distribution because of a court order:
http://www.microsoft.com/java/

You can download Sun Java here:
http://java.sun.com/getjava/
