Whating to upgrade

I have Windows Me and I want upgrade to windows xp from a
download on my computer, But what I want to knew is if I
upgrade to windows Xp will this change my windows me and
if it does can I get windows me back again my windows me
was peistalled on my computer, so I need to know if I'm
doing the right thing I want to try windows xp from the
download upgrade, can someone Help me Please. Ava

You can not legally install/upgrade to Windows XP from a download. You need
a complete CD key, including the correct CD key. This CD key will generate
a unique id code which Microsoft will need to get your XP version activated.
The activation is only for one PC.

Second, once you have upgraded/installed XP, you will need to re-format the
hard drive in order to put back your ME. There is no un-install.

What exactly do you intend to download to 'upgrade' to XP? - the only
authorised upgrades (or new installs), that I know of, will come on a CD
(or, in the case of a company-supplied computer, be installed for you ).
You will have to buy this CD (preferably from a shop that you trust, online
or otherwise)...... but you will then own it, be able to re-install it
should any problems occur and be able to access all downloadable updates and
Microsoft support options.
