I have upgraded from Win,98 to XP twice.
The first time I received Code 633.
I suggested to unintsall the modem first.
I did that, and wsa still left without the ability to get
on line.
From Win,98 I went to Microsoft Knowlege Base and
downloaded a certified modem. No difference.
Am I missing something or should I just loaod a new
operating system instead of just upgrading?
The XP cd cost enough, I sure would like to use it.
thank you

Keep your O.S.,
1: Open Control Panel
2: Click on "Phone and Modem Options" Icon
3: Click on the "Modems" tab
If modem is connected
4: See if the modem is conneted, if so, ensure that it is attached to Com3
a: Highlight it, and click on properties
b: Click on "Resource" tab to ensure it is not conflicting w/any other
hardware
c: Do this if modem is not connected to Com3:
Click on "Advance" tab, then "Advance Port Settings" button
Make sure "FIFO buffers...." is checked
Recieve and Transmit Buffer are set "High"
and COM Port Number, is set to COM3
If Modem is not connected:
Have your drivers to modem and O.S. ready.
5: Click "Add" button
6: Check mark "Don't detect my modem", click next
7: Click on "Have Disk" and choose appropriate drive
8: Insert correct software
9: Select appropriate Hardware and follow onscreen instructions
Hope this helps.
