View Full Version : Accessing Old Drive's "Desktop" Folder

Hi, I had Windows XP installed on my old computer, on a 100
Gig drive. Then, when I got a new computer, I took out the
drive and added it to my new one, which also has Win XP
installed.

My question is: when I try to access the "Desktop" folder
(with my new drive's Administrator account), it gives me
this error:
G:\Documents and Settings\James\Desktop\ is not accessible.
Access is denied.

Does anyone know how I can remedy this situation?

Thanks,
-JZD

You need to take ownership of the folder on the old drive. Go to =
Windows Help and Support and type in "take ownership of folder" and =
search. The first article tells you how to take ownership of the =
folder. It's pretty simple.
