My Pioneer CD-Rom DVD 116 can no longer read data on CDs and I get the following message from media player when attempting to play music CDs from that drive "Media player encountered an error when reading CD-Rom drive in digital mode"
I am running Windows XP Home and have two IDE hard drives 0 and 1, and two CDROMs, an LG Read/Write burner as the master (CDROM 0) and the pioneer CDROM DVD116 as slave (CDROM 1). The DVD was master before and I tried switching it to slave but it did not solve the problem.
I have an ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 7500 card and running Roxio version 5.3.5.10c.
The CD burner runs fine, it plays music and read and processes data without a problem.
When looking at the Component Services in Event Viewer for System, I find all kinds of errors of TYPE "Error", SOURCE "cdrom", EVENT "11".
When logging in SAFE MODE, the Pioneer DVD drive can read and process Data off CDs but it still cannot play music CDs. It reports that there is something wrong with the Sound card. But strangely enough when the CDs are placed in the LG CD R/W drive, the drive can read and process both formats fine. If the sound drivers were at fault the R/W drive would also fail, but it does not.
I have done many driver upgrades since I last tried the Pioneer CDROM DVD and it worked, about four months ago. It has worked for over nine months before I noticed it no longer worked. I would not know where to begin in restoring drivers.
I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Bob.
