I recently purchased an Asus A7V8X Motherboard with
Serial ATA hard drive support. I also purchased windows
xp professional and a western digital 36 GB SATA raptor
hard drive. I can't seem to get windows setup to
recognize the hard drive. It aborts installation every
time. I have played with boot and other options with no
success! Help me please!! :)

Windows XP setup CDROM does not include SATA controller in it. Review a
CDROM(NVIDA nForce2 Series Motherboard) which come with the motherboard
and in it is a folder called SATA. Copy files in SATA to a floppy disk
and use it when you install Windows XP: Insert the floppy to the PC,
begin Windows XP installation, watch the bottom of the screen and press
F6 when asked to do so, then follow the screen prompts.
Please note that there would be a file corruption problem if two SATA
drives are installed. It can be resolved by updating system BIOS and
SATA controller drivers. If you are interested following are the
download links:

Hi, the file corruption issue that you refer too only affects the A7N8X, the
poster has a A7V8X, which doesn't have this problem....
