Hi all,

First, I have been to the MS website. What I am hoping is out there is a
list of all the hardware that is supported on the OEM cd's from MS in ASCII
or PDF format that I could download and look through it. If anyone knows
where something like this is available, please post answer.

thanks for the help,
dave.....

Hi Jupiter,

The online Windows Catalog is exactly what I do not want.
I want an ASCII file that has a list of all the hardware that is
supported directly off the OEM Windows XP Pro cd.
You have to know what to type in when presented with a
box for searching on the website. I want the whole thing
in one big list so I can have a choice when looking for
hardware to buy.

thanks,
dave.....

Dave;
That would be nice, but I don't think it exists.
Also there is much hardware not on the list that does function
properly.

You could request for a future change:

I don't either.

If I am building a system from scratch, I want to know that all
the parts in the system will work with certified drivers on the
original OEM cd. If I have problems from the start, I can
eliminate things like driver problems right off the bat and start
looking for bad hardware out of the box.

I realize that lots of parts "work with" XP but if I have to go
to a website to download a driver to get it to function properly
this in my mind is waisting my time. I would prefer to know
that the part can get a certified driver off the original OEM
cd during installation.

The other thing is that if you contact MS for any kind of
support, the first question out of their mouth (after making
sure you paid) is "Is the item on the HCL?" If not, they
won't help you.

Did that.
