Screen Resolution Problems

Following logon to windows xp on a dell inspiron 8100 the
screen resolution appears per my last settings but then
re-sets itself within 3/4 seconds to the lowest
resolution (800 x 600. It happens after each log-on so
any advice would be appreciated.

You could be setting the display to an unsupported
resolution and it is reverting to a "safe" setting. It is
also possible that your hardware or drivers are damaged.

The LCD has a native resolution and you really shouldn't
exceed that. Check your device manager to see if any
problems are detected.

Call Dell's tech support, since this is a laptop and they
know about it.
