Hi,

Update the latest chipset drivers from the mobo
manufacturer's website. Update the BIOS as well if
necessary.
Then download and install the latest XP compatible vedio
and sound card drivers.

Peter's advice is good but do NOT install the latest graphics driver if
you're running an nVidia chipset that's anything other than FX as it's not
certified for anything else. Look through nVidia's back catalogue and find
the one that's certified for your chipset. Otherwise it has been known to
cause problems.
