How do I turn an 80 GB hard drive into 2 seperate drives?

Please if someone knows how to explain to me in simple english how to split an 80 GB HD into 2 40 GB harddrives it would be most helpful for the info thank you

You have not provided enough information.
Is the hard drive in use?
Will it be the primary (boot) drive?
Must you keep the data that is on it intact and on it?

it is called partitioning.
there is no software built into xp to accomplish this,.
during the install of xp you can partition the drive.
3rd party program will be required.
a VERY good one is Partition Magic .
