Mouse click=XP Freeze up

I Need help. New Computer w/Win Xp Home on it. I
downloaded all the MS Security Patches and now my computer
will freeze up completely when I open any program or
folder a few minutes after I start up my computer. Ctrl+
Alt+Del does not work at all and I have to hold the Power
button to shut down..Is it a mouse issue. Should I
reinstall mouse driver? Help...
