Some type 1 fonts dont work in programs

I am using XP with all updates and have installed ATM 4.1
for XP. I have installed the fonts through window and ATM
and some of them will not work in Corel 8 or Corel 11. I
can use the font and type in text and as soon as I
deselect the font is still visible, but it is no longer
there. ( does not display in wire frame, can not click on
it and select it, if i select it by drawing a box around
the text the selection is shown as a small box in the
lower left hand corner) I can change the text to the true
type version and it works fine, but when I reopen the file
it has defaulted back to the type one version.

Any Ideas would be helpful
