for some reason i cannot send or recieve any files via
messenger or use audio/or cam i have net gear router
hooked up to a cblae modem if any one can help it would
be much appreciated for i,v try remote assistance and
that wont even work because they can't access my
computer,even with the fire wall deactivated, in dier
need of assitance befor i just do away with xp product
and go to lindows or linixs

Take the computer back to the store and get your money back,
Then buy a typewriter.

You will need to ensure that your router provides uPNP (Universal Plug and
Play) services. Enable it on your router. Restart Messenger and see how that
works.

My Apologies, Mike,
Phil, I was ready to slay the dragon with my bare hands, as I had just come
off a forum where many users were blaming XP for all their problems. Many
had never read the owners manual, much less the users manual.

It is the router causing the problem. I have the same problem with my router
(On Windows XP/98 and Linux).
