I have set up a home network with a Linksys W11S4 V.2
router which is hard wired to a cable modem and a pc
running windows 98. Wireless connections have been made to
a laptop running windows 98 and a pc running windows xp
professional. I am able to share files in the normal way
on all three computers and the laptop is able to access
the internet through the wireless connection. However the
pc with windows xp fails to connect to the internet and
always shows 'this page cannot be displayed'. I have set
up the xp internet properties connections exactly as the
laptop settings.
I now wonder if there is a 'hidden' setting in xp
professional which is causing the wireless internet
connection to fail. Any views or help would be appreciated.

1. do default gateway point to linksys?
2. what is the DNS setting point to?
3. can you perform tracert to external web? e.g. www.microsoft.com
