I took the computer to the shop after one of the two hard disks crashed and the operation system failed to load.

I was allowed to watch while the technician worked, and I noticed that he had problems with the (his) mouse.

He tried maybe 4 or 5 before finding one that worked partially...with the cursor he could open control panel but not the menu item within, which could be opened only by right click and choose "Open".

Operating thus he installed a new hard drive, and reactivated the o/s, which was on the surviving one.

Everything worked fine in the shop, but when I got home, the cursor on my screen refused to move. I checked the system and found that the mouse is conspiscously absent. Tried the usual methods but windows failed completely to recognize this mouse or any other I tried.

I've had this Logitech Optical mouse M-BJ58 for 2 years and it had been working fine until the disk failure happened. The same mouse works fine on another machine.

The system is Windows XP pro.

I'd really appreciate help about what to do, as at the moment I've completely appropriated hubby's computer. My mouse, his computer.
