Have you tried this SHUTZ application with windows xp? It may work even
though it may say its for windows 98.
Most applications that work on previous versions of windows will work on xp.
Otherwise if you have no luck finding a suitable program, you can use
desktop or quicklaunch shortcuts to run shutdown.exe (a command in windows
xp) with the appropriate switches.
Open the command prompt and type
shutdown /? for information as to what switches can be used.
I have attached some shortcuts in which you can ''save'' them to your
desktop, not open them. They are shutdown.lnk and restart.lnk. When you
launch these shortcuts, your system will wait 10 seconds and begin the
shutdown process. If you accidentally launch one, you will have 10 seconds
to run the command
shutdown -a or the attached abort.lnk shortcut. These shortcuts use the
windows shutdown.exe command.
