Hi,

Can you use the Win98/ME startup disk to startup the
computer?
If yes, use the startup tools to check for the problems.
If no, the CMOS may be corrupted.
If the flash rom is not yet died, you can reflash the BIOS.
But if the flash rom is dead, there is no way for reflash.
You need to take it for repair or buy a new mobo.

Open the case and remove the battery. Short the + and -
sign to clear the CMOS.
Use your other PC to download the flash utility tools from
the mobo's manufacturer's website and save it to a floppy
disk. Also download the latest BIOS and chipset drivers
and save it to the floppy disk (pls use separate floppy
disk).
From the mobo manufacturer's website, search and read the
instructions for what to flash the BIOS. Follow the
instruction and flash the BIOS. If the flash is
successfuly, load default setting and set CD-rom is the
first boot than save and exit.
Boot from the XP CD and install XP from scratch.

If you don't have any experience for what to flash the
BIOS, take it to the shop for repair to avoid further
damage.
