Is it necessary to fdisk/reformat C drive when adding a

No, just make sure that you set the jumpers correctly in the
Bios and you should be just fine,

No. You wouldn't be able to anyway.

No, only the new drive.

Thanks for the the input. No data loss and the install,
especially the formatting of the new drive was much
easier than expected.
