Are most external DVD-RW Drives backward USB 1.1
compatible? Some say it is really dangerous to do so, but
I'm not sure.

Hi

If you are asking whether you can connect a USB 2.0 external dvd-rw device
to a USB 1.1 port on your system then the answer is 'yes'.

You will see a pop-up warning about connecting a high-speed USB device to a
non-high-speed USB port but it shouldn't affect your ability to write to the
DVD, only the speed at which you can do it.

Hope that helps

Pete

Yes you can do it that way, however be advised that it
SEVERELY limits the video you can write to it. It will also be much slower
than USB. Why not just buy a USB2 card and install it?
