I am currently running Windows XP SP1 with a single Maxtor 120 Gig ATA/133
hard drive, which is connected onto my motherboard's (ASUS P4C800) Promise
378 RAID controller. My RAID is setup as 1+0 Stripping. The reason that I
am using this setup is because the onboard IDE controller only go up to
ATA/100. Please remember that I am using only 1 drive.
Very soon I am about to upgrade to an SATA (Serial-ATA) hard drive. When
this finally happens, I will want to clone my "old" drive to my "new" SATA
drive.
I just tried "Imaging" my drive and found out that Norton Ghost 2003
locked-upp before it finished booting in DOS mode. I did not research and
found out that Norton Ghost 2003 does NOT support RAID drives. I then
tried Drive Image 2002, and it was able to "Image" the drive.
So, I would like to know if since Drive Image 2002 was able to IMAGE my
drive, will this means that it should be able to clone it also?
Or do I have to take my "old" drive, connect it to a regular IDE ATA/100
connector, clone it and then take the newly cloned drive and connect it to
the IDE RAID connector? Will this work?
Many thanks for your help.
