View Full Version : Security block on LPT1

A customer has a DOS application that runs their business
and it uses one of those blocks that attaches to a printer
port. Anyway, I'm trying to being them into the current
age. This application works fine (reading the block) when
running under Windows 98. But, I'd like to get them up to
Win 2000 or better yet, Win XP pro.
So far I have not been able to figure out how to get this
to work. I just get messages indicating that the block
can't be found. The port is standard LPT1 (int 7 and 378).
Is there a trick under Win XP pro to let this application
talk to the port directly??

Tom;
You probably need to contact the manufacturer to see if there are
updates to make it compatible with Windows XP.

An easier way to read newsgroup messages:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/newsgroups/setup.asp
Please respond to newsgroup only for everyone's benefit.

Ugh, not exactly what I wanted to hear... But, of course
it's not a total suprise!
Anyone have any other (easier) ideas??
Thanks for your help, Tom
