Cant print using laserjet 4 plus on XP

I just upgraded my existing Windows ME to XP, downloaded
all the upgrades , and bios upgrade to A11. The printer
port is working just great on ME. but wont print anything
on XP. I have re-installed the printer several times, even
uninstalled the port and tried again. It installs just
fine, but every print to it fails. I'm a bit confused. I
can put the old drive back in with ME , and all works
great. I connect the cable from the printer to my laptop
using XP, bam.. works just fine... HELP...!!!!!!

Keeping it connected during the upgrade corrupts the drivers and you are not
uninstalling it correctly.

Either keep it disconnected during the upgrade or simply uninstall it
correctly.
