Hi
For the past two days I've had trouble starting the
computer. Once past the boot-up screen it shows a screen
which says my M,N and O drives need to be checked which
takes on average 2 to 3 hours to complete. I can by-pass
this by not allowing the check to be made but end up with
a very slow computer. I've also noticed that my N drive,
which was set as FAT32 is now showing as having no file
system. Is there a way to re-allocate the File System
(FAT32 or NTFS) without having to re-format the drive as
this would lose everything stored on it?

Thanks
Aslam

Allocation involves partitioning. Formatting defines the file-system
structure (e.g., NTFS, FAT32) on the partition. Both results in the lose of
any previous data. So neither of these is an option if you intend to save
your data. Could it be that by NOT allowing the check to continue,
something needing correction wasn't fixed, thus, you can't see the N:
drive?! Seems to me I would let the check do it's thing. Btw, one way to
minimize these checks is to keep your partitions SMALL, only as big as
necessary for *reasonable* expansion. Use of a good partition manager would
help greatly (e.g., BootIt NG or Partition Magic). If the N: drive
continues to be unrecognized, it is possible the HD's partition table (which
contains addressing that points to the partitions) may be corrupted. I
suggest a search on Yahoo or Google for "partition+recovery+tools", should
be LOTs of 'em. Some are services, other software packages. These tools
can sometimes locate the lost partitions and restore the partition table.

You could wait more than five minutes before asking for help a second
time!
