ive got a huge problem with my floppy drive
the floppy drive that has the problem originally came with
the pc, which is running windows98, i think i accidently
deleted the one of ther drivers for my floppy drive and as
a result my floppy drive wont work how i wnt it 2, it
seems to want to use 5.25" floppies not the standard 3.5"
ones which is pretty odd, when i looked at the driver
details for it, i noticed to drivers, both in the system
of windows...now when i went in to explorer i looked at
the both and one of them is fine, it has the proper icon
nxt 2 it, the 2 cogs, but the other one of
namer 'hsflop.pdr' shows the windows logo ipon the icon
insttead of the cogs, to my own knowldge i believe this to
be just a corrput file, and i have tried reinstalling my
OS on it and that didnt solve anything at all, i do now
want to take the floppy drive out as it is a real pain to
even unscrew, so i was wondering if any1 can help me out
with this problem, also if u cud take the time to help me
out, please reply via email as it is much easier for me to
make direct contact with you, any help appreciated

The problem isn't the drive, but the drivers for the
motherboard or a bad cable.

Are you still running W98, this is a W XP group.

I suggest you check with a W 98 group. Windows XP has no
support for anything except 1.44 MB floppy drives.

You may need to reinstall your OS, flash your BIOS and as a
last resort, replace the cable. If that doesn't work, then
the drive should be replaced.

I know that this is an XP group, but I have seen this problem before. The
problem is the BIOS is not seeing the floppy drive correctly. It is thinking
that the drive is a 5.25 unit and it should be a 3.5 model. Check in the
BIOS.
