I have just installed Win XP on my laptop Compaq Presario
1635. The modem is Compaq Presario 56K-DFi. Win XP did
not register it as it has Win 98 driver but I managed to
locate a Win XP driver and it is also a signed driver.
However XP refuses to use it. I switched the PnP to No in
the BIOS but I still get the same message:"This device is
disabled because the firmware of the device did not give
it the required resources. (Code 29)"
I tried to give it a different resources number by it in
the Proprties/Resourses but to no avail.
Please help.
Thanks
Tom

Did you un-install the older Windows 98 drivers??? The drivers could still
be loading in XP, thus locking out the modem?
