Hello,
I just recently upgraded XP Home to XP Pro, and now it
will not let me connect to the net with my existing
connection. For some reason PPPoE is not available and
when I try and create a new connection, it just gives me
the option of "create a connection thats always
connected". This will not allow me to gain access. I
need to get PPPoE back on there somehow...PLEASE HELP

Joe, a PPPoE connection IS "always connected". Sortof. Kinda.
The terminology here is that it does not have to be initiated by dialling a
number...followed by a handshake session. So. Enter the username and
password info, and the domain name if required, and you should be good to
go. If you have further problems, give your ISP a call. They are often
able to talk a user through the necessary steps.
PLEASE PLEASE post a follow-up.

PPP connections are not always connected. They can be disconnected by
inactivity timers at the service provider. If that happens, then there
is no way to communicate, even though Ethernet connectivity remains. PPP
connections may be automatically connected, but in most ways, PPPoE
behaves like dial-up, just no dialing and no telephone line.
