Hello,
I have an AMD Athalon. Its a 950, but I was told it was
running at 1.2 gigs. Well anyways. I had an 40 gig
Seagate that got a bad sector. So I got this sixty gig.
It works fine till I want to take something off an cd.
Like maybe an mp3 file or if I burn. The system just cuts
off. I was using the 40 gig as an second drive. It still
was all messed up. I did take it and had it all strighted
out. It was not fun getting this 60 gig working. But it
still cuts off when working with the cd rom or whatever.
I did get a blue screen for the first time stated that new
hardware that was installed. If someone can point me in
the right direction I thank you.

Not sure what the problem is here, but one thing's for sure. It sounds like
your CPU has been overclocked. If you're having problems, the LAST thing
you should do is OC the CPU. In most cases, this results in an OC of the
PCI bus, AGP bus, and memory as well. Depending on the quality of the
motherboard and these components, OC'ing can lead to PCI device or video
failure (or at least parity errors), memory errors, or even corruption of
the HD. So while I can't address your SPECIFIC problem (I found it a little
hard to follow), at the very least, run your CPU at its rated speed! It
just might stop all the problems you're now having.
