i recently upgraded my processor and now xp wont start.it
comes up with an error message and asks to boot from one
of 5 ways ...all 5 ways hang.tryed doing a repair install
and again sytem hangs.please help me im running out of
options .....the only one i can think of is wipping the
drive and starting over.

Unusual for a simple processor upgrade ALONE to cause such a problem, did
you perhaps upgrade the motherboard too?! I would go into the BIOS and set
everything to BIOS defaults, then try again. You might have some
optimization in there that's incompatible w/ the new processor. Wiping the
HD at this point might be premature. Do you have data (word & excel docs,
mp3, etc.) you'd like to keep before doing so?

An upgrade CPU from Celeron to P4 would need new drivers, as
would a similar AMD upgrade.
How did you go about trying to do a repair install, did you
follow the MS instructions?

After upgrading my processor, I had to clear my cmos by shorting a
jumper on my motherboard. Check your motherboard documentation.
When you do this, you have to go into your bios to reset any special
settings you may have.
