www.crucial.com or www.kingston.com have memory selectors,
you enter the make and model of your computer and they will
tell you what the proper memory type and the standard and
maximum the computer can use.
www.belarc.com and download the free software Bel Arc
Advisor and it will report on all your hardware and
software, including the amount and kind of memory in each
slot.

If you want more detail AIDA32 will even tell you the actual
manufacturer of the RAM. I bought PNY memory (it was cheap
and on sale with a rebate) but AIDA32 reports that my two
256 PC2100 were made by two different companies.

If you right click on the MY COMPUTER icon and select
properties you'll get a page with the amount of RAM you have
installed.

If you're going to upgrade RAM better go to 256 MB or more.

Hello

Can you provide model and type of pc that you have and one
will be better able to answer your question. Depending on your
pc type would take either SDRAM PC100, 133 OR it may take
DDR PC2100, 2700, ETC
