View Full Version : Xerox M940 Printer driver

I recently upgraded to XP and I can't get the Xerox M940
Printer/Scanner driver to communicate on USB.
This worked before I had to replace my hard drive and then
had to re-install the xerox driver. Now the Xerox
diagnostics fails to communicate on USB.
I have another system with the same printer with the same
problem.
The driver supplied by Xerox is a patch for XP and isn't
signed, probably due to the fact that this printer is a
piece of crap and always has been. The only way I got it
to work is to connect it with the parallel cable.
The ink levels on the status window don't work either.
Does anyone have a fix for this other than tossing them
into the dumpster?
Anyone have any experience with the Canon F20?
Thanks
Edwin

Yes, thank you for your reply. I have been to the Xerox
site, I downloaded their patch, read their instructions
multiple times and I performed the uninstall/reinstall
multiple times.
It didn't work.
I re-installed XP (upgrade) and it fixed the
communications problem but not the ink levels problem.
I did the re-install in an attempt to resolve another
issue I'm having with XP because they're Fscking Regedit
won't allow me to modify certain keys. The vole is looking
out for my interests it seems. ;-)
Thanks for your help but I was hoping there was somebody
who had resolved a similar problem and knew some special
tricks other than re-installing everything.
This printer seems to be engineered to generate revenue
from selling inktanks and printheads. There is supposed to
be a high capacity black ink tank but try to find one.
Right now both the black and color printheads seem to be
clogged up and the cost of replacements exceeds it's value
to me.
Time to go shopping again.
