I cannot use Midtown madness (chicago edition) with Xp.
Worked fine before XP Professional was installed and have
found three of my driving games won't work with it.
(Grand Prix Legends and The Italian Job).
I can uderstand - a little - other games not working but
Microsofts own game!!!
I am using Xp with ATI All-In-Wonder 128. I had not
problems previous to XP, anyone have an idea a to what is
going on??

Thanks in advance, Jak
Oh I have the latest drivers for the ATI card.

Have you updated DirectX and looked for patches for the games on their
manufacturers website? I can assure you that it is not the fault of the
video cards...I have 4 AIW's from the original AIW 32MB to the AIW 9700 pro
and they all play ANY game that is thrown at them...

Did you do a clean install of XP?

Sorry...didn't see that it is a 128AIW. That GPU is, unfortuneately, not
powerful enough to run the games you want, even with the latest drivers.
You can buy a new AIW 7500 for very cheap these days...that is the route I
would go. The AIW cards are good cards...yours is just several generations
old, and cannot support DX 9 properly, due to design limitiations in it's
GPU and low bus speed to it's memcore.

Haven't tried a complete reinstall.. seems a bit
excessive for this problem but there seems to be little
else I can do..

I've been hunting around and it seems to be pretty hit
and miss with XP. Some people find -- like me that
previously "ok" programs will not run and others have no
problems.

I find XP quite stable and it will run my first person
shooter games -- unreal, star trek etc, but no luck with
racing software. Are there different basics in each that
makes these problems so???
BIG QUESTION!!

Thanks though, Jak

If your original install of XP was an upgrade over 98 or ME a lot of people
have run into problems. You can solve most problems doing a clean install of
XP which means formatting the hard drive before install. Also make sure all
your hardware meets specs for XP. You can also check software compatibility
at
www.ntcompatible.com
