I am about to buy a new scanner because my old UMAX S-6E
can't hack it with XP. So, does anyone have any
recommendations for a scanner that works really well with
XP please?

Go to the following site to download the xp drivers for that scanner.
Scroll down the list and find the s-6e then download and install.
It is clearly marked for winxp.

Look at your hp scanners and they are a very good choice and
works well with XP

So do most of the Epson and they have a lot better customers relationships.
One of the most effiecient at mailing rebates also.
