I've lost a file when transferring it to my floppy
drive. I clicked 'move file' from C drive to A drive to
a preformatted new disc. Now the pre-formatted disc
comes up with 'unformatted error'.
any idea if XP hides a copy somewhere?
thanks

No. The file does not even go to the recycle bin. That is why I never
"move" a file; I copy it and then verify the copied file, and then delete
from the HDD. You might try the floppy in another floppy drive...

This has been a problem since Win95. Even if you do a DOS copy with
the /V flag, there is no guarantee that a file ostensible written to a
floppy will be readable, even in the short term, unless you eject the
floppy from the drive and then reinsert it and do a successful
compare. Otherwise, Windows caches the file and uses its cached copy
in subsequent operations, which is emphatically not what you want if
you are trying to make sure that it has really been written to the
disk!
