I have a strange problem, I just installed a new rig with
the new intel cpu (3gig 800 bus) and ASUS P4C800 deluxe.
Now it seems to be working alright but in device manager
under processors it shows 2 3gig processors, while i am
quite sure I only installed 1 (mobo isnt compatible with
dual cpu anyway). I tried uninstalling one or the other
of the processors but they always come back.

Hyper-Threading Technology(HT) is working for your system for this cpu just
say woohoo, only a few programs will use this mode but property.
Hyper-Threading Technology allows two threads (or parts of a software
program) to execute simultaneously on a single Pentium 4 processor. A
Hyper-Threading Technology-aware operating system such as Microsoft Windows*
XP Professional "sees" two virtual processors, instead of a single physical
Pentium 4 processor. By using resources that might otherwise sit idle, the
Pentium 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading Technology delivers noticeable
performance increases over current software in a multitasking environment,
no code modifications needed.
