I have recently suffered a virus attack. the virus
infected system32.exe and propogated itself around from
there. Norton antivirus could not clean the file so I
deleted it. any ideas how I can get a replacement without
rebuilding the whole OS?

feedback appreciated

regards

i just searched my drive for system32.exe "none found" system32.exe is the
virus. goto www.symantec.com and do a search for "system32.exe" there are 10
fixes there.

Darren;
system32.exe is the virus, you do not want it.
The only to get it back is to get the virus again.

Go here:
http://www.symantec.com/search/
Search for the specific virus you had to be sure it is completely
gone.

In the future install and update weekly an antivirus application.
Also run it at least weekly.

Greetings --

You don't want that file. System.exe _is_ the worm; it's certainly
not a valid WinXP system file. Pay particular attention to _all_ of
the removal instructions:

W32.Kwbot.C.Worm
