Sent e-mail messages in Sent Items Folder go missing

Windows XP (HE)'s OE6 e-mail messages sent and automatically filed in
Sent Items Folder are not in Folder the next day and are no where to
be found. Please help me. I am loosing important sent messages.

In OE6, open Tools/Options/Maintenance tab and make sure that the "Compact
messages in the background" option is not selected.

Just in case something got changed, should also ensure the box "Save copy of
sent items....." is checked under the Send tab of the options menu.
