problem with new monitor

I just purchased a used ibm 9516-a13 monitor. when i
hooked it up to my computer it displayed the windows xp
screen then the message invalid video popped up. Then it
went blank. I tried to download the drivers from ibm.com
and xp does not recognize the drivers. I think it is
a .icm form of driver. Any help on getting this working
would be greatly appreciated.

use F8 before booting to xp, in safe mode rightclick my conputer select
properties \ hardware \ device manager\ monitors
delete your current monitor there. reboot. now where on your desktop select
\ properties \ settings \ advance \monitor \ drivers\ update drivers.
