hi im a learner and have windows xp 2002.
intel pentium processor
810 mhz
128 mb of ram
im a learner so be gentle!!! this hard drive thing is
driving me nuts the cd compartment keeps opeining and
shutting when ever the compter is turned on. approx every
5 seconds.
ive tried system restore it used to work but now doesnt
seem to help any more???? does any one have any ideas on
how to fix this problem. and remember i am not computer
literate.

Hi Kayleen,
Try cleaning the CD with a soft cloth and plain water. Then dry thoroughly.
Look for any scratches. It seems that your CD drive is having trouble
identifying your CD Disk.
If that doesn't work, shut off the computer and unplug it. Then open the
case. Check that the cables to the CD drive are firmly seated on both ends.
Removing and reinserting the plug into the socket will, sometimes, clean
away any oxidation that may be causing a poor connection.
If that doesn't work it's likely time for a new drive!

you might also be sure and run your anti-virus software or
update your antivirus definitions seems to me at one time
there a few bugs out there that took quite a delight in
nothing more than the annoyance of opening that door
