cd drive wont show up in windows

i should be asking this in some windows 98 forum but this
is my more favorite one. i have an install of 98 on an
old gateway E-3000 and the cd drive wont show up in
windows in my computer. the atapi detects the drive on
start up but windows doesn't show it. any posible causes
or fixes would be great, thanx.

You need to install the appropriate CD drivers in the Windows98 autoexec.bat
and config.sys files. Since XP doesn't use autoexec.bat and config.sys
files, the 98 newsgroups would be far more appropriate.
