Hi wondering if anyone can help
I had been using msfax with no problems. I had a virus, got rid of it, did an xp repair and now can't seem to send fax
It says my fax is all configured and working properly, but nothing registers in fax console and I get the message
'all fax printers are inaccessible'. what can I do to bring it back?
Help I am going nuts

We have Windows XP sp1 installed and still receive the error: "all fax printers are inaccessible". Any ideas on how to proceed. This only fails on one workstation. Would re-installing sp1 solve this?

Thank you for your reply and the two references. However, we are not using Norton AV. We are using Panda AV and this is installed on all clients. Other client machines do not receive this error and are able to successfuly send and connect to the FAX server

Then until you can provide steps to repro, it is unlikely there will be a
solution forthcoming any time soon.

Since this only occurs on one workstation it is very difficult to reproduce.
Could this be a registry problem?

Yes, it likely is a registry problem. There are a whole host of possible
causes, but the only two that have been documented after SP1.
Here are the registry changes that SP1 made to fix the problem, so you can
check these keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\ClientPr otocols]
"ncacn_np"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncacn_ip_tcp"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncadg_ip_udp"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncacn_http"="rpcrt4.dll"

Thank you. I checked the registry and it reflected exactly what you show below.
I then tried registering the rpcrt4.dll but this made no difference.
The FAX Console still displays the error ""all fax printers are inaccessible".
I have downloaded Windows XP sp1a - should I try installing this although the
computer already has Windows XP sp1 installed?

That's anyone's guess. I've not been made aware of any other known causes
for this problem that are included in later patches, but it's possible.
