After I downloaded updates this morning 6/3/2003. The
system prompted me to restart. When I did the computer
read like this

"we aplogise for the inconvenience, but windows did not
start successfully. A recent hardware or software change
might have cause this. I tried going into safe mode and
the script didn't work. Even going to the last known good
configuration. When I reboot it co0mes back to the same
prompt. Any ideas???

Did you get an Intel display driver update? I did and had
some questions about whether it was what I should have, but
then decided to try it. The driver caused the computer to
crash, I boot to last known good condition, then did a
system restore.
I then got the display/graphic driver from Intel for my
D845GBVL mobo. Works just fine.
I should have waited,had posted a question about that driver
update, but got antsy and tried it.
