Anyone install xp on a laptop and when finished your DVD
player won't play because no decoder?

WinXp does not natively support playing DVD's you must install a third party
DVd decoder, such as PowerDVD, WinDVD, etc.

You will have to update and/or reinstall the DVD decoder.
