I have bought a DELL Latitude notebook 6 months ago with
Windows XP Professional pre-installed. For the past
month, I have been facing the following problem with the
operating system:
1)When starting Windows in the office profile and after I
enter my user id and password, Windows does not show any
icon or start anything for 2-3 minutes. After that I can
work ok.
2)When working at home (different profile from before)
and after I enter my user id and password, I get the
icons and the desktop immediately but if I start Windows
Explorer or MS Outlook, it takes 2-3 minutes for any
program to start. During this time the processor
utilization (in task manager) is normal.
3)Overall, the computer has become very slow. It is a P4
Mobile 1.7MHz with 256MB RAM.
I tried to check the startup programs and delete any
unnecessary programs upon startup but that did not help
in anything. The applications that I often use are MS
Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, and Symatec anti-
virus.
