I have a 19in Viewsonic monitor which I am using. My
computer thinks that I am using a 15in Samsung LCD monitor
because I installed the driver from the CD so I could try
it out. I cant set the resolution greater than 1024x768
on my 19in monitor because when I go to the
Settings/Display - it says I am using the 15in Samsung
which has a max 1024x768 resolution. How do I unistall the
Samsung driver and get the ability to set my driver for a
Viewsonic PF790 monitor which I am using?
Thanks for any help.

Go to Control Panel / System Properties / Device Manager / Monitors. Click
on the + mark to see your monitor. Right click on the monitor name. Left
Click on Uninstall. When finished this will uninstall the old monitor.
Either reboot your computer to allow the OS to find the "new" monitor or
click on Scan for Hardware changes after right clicking again on Monitors.

If you don't have software for the monitor then chances are that the *.inf
file needed for the monitor is already in winxp. Go into device
manager/open the monitor branch/double-click the monitor/click the driver
tab/click the change driver button/don't let windows search/select your
own/in the left-hand pane scroll down and highlight viewsonic/in the right
pane see if your monitor is listed/select it/click OK a couple of time.
If your monitor is not listed then you should go to the viewsonic site and
download drivers for it.
