My pc restarts when I try to shut down going
through "Start -Turn off computer-Turn off"
I just install a new mother board and windows XP Pro.
Every thing seems to work fine except the system turns
off but starts up again. This happens in both "Turn Off"
and "Restart" Can someone help me. Thanks TDS

See "Windows XP Restarts When You Try to Shut Down Your Computer"

Something that is running on your machine is causing a System Failure
class error when Windows tries to close it. Windows XP has a default
setting to "restart on failure".

To change this behaviour open Control Panel - System - Advanced -
Startup and Recovery Settings and clear the checkbox for the
"automatically restart" item in the System Failure section.

Now when you shut down or restart you will probably receive a "blue
screen of death" STOP error message and your computer may lock up at
that point.

However the information in the error message will allow the cause of
the error to be identified and then hopefully cured. You can post the
information from the error message back here or or check it out at MVP
Jim Eshelman's web page for STOP errors at
http://www.aumha.org/kbestop.htm

Good luck
