I recently upgraded my internet connection from dialup to ADSL. The
installation engineering installed the Conexant USB Modem along with the
software Conexant Access Runner that comes with the Installation CD. Since
the first time that software was installed, windows xp is extremely slow
every time I need to shut down my computer. The shutdown process really
takes a very long time, and it only occurred after the first install of my
ADSL USB modem software. I have visited the website for my modem
manufacturer and installing the latest drivers, but they did not solve
anything regarding the very slow shutdown timing. What can I do to fix the
problem?

Your system would work better if you put a network card in your computer and
connect to the modem like that if the modem has an rj45 port.

My modem does not have that port.. it only has the USB port which I use to
connect with my computer and the other port which I use to plug in the
telephone line. By the way, I do have a network card integrated with my
motherboard.
