When I go to backup a file using the backup utility on
Windows XP, I am unable to compress the file for storage
on a zip disk.

I read the article on the Windows XP Knowledge Base where
zip drives sometimes get mistaken for hard disks. Is
this problem in relation to this issue?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

I dont know much about zip disks, but if you check the manufacturers website
they should have a backup program for download or one that came on your
drivers cd.
It is always best to use the recomended program and make sure it works
before moving on. Also check the device manager to find out if it has
registered the zip drive as a hard drive.
